Call of Shloer
By AlI’m sorry that it’s been a while since I last made a post; I’ve had a pretty busy week. I had a really good birthday though; and my present from my neighbours is that they’re paying for my ticket to see Superman Returns at the IMAX in London!!!
I had lunch with my neighbours which was really nice and then I went to my mom’s house and spent the entire afternoon and evening with my brother. We had loads of fun and watched Superman IV: The Quest for Peace followed by the original Superman movie.
He also has a lot of green army men toys so we created an army. And then it turned out that we were creating two seperate armies to fight against each other. And then mysteriously, my tanks started dissapearing as his men started to covertly strike and steal my equipment. Then he shot down all my planes as they took off. And then the president of the United States called and fired all my troops, who were then subsequently hired by my brother.
Yeah, that’s so not fair!
I was left with 2 men and a plane with one wing. Now what kind of an army do you call that?!?
A couple of posts ago I mentioned about talking to the staff in the media department at the school I work at about how they can use their iBook G4s for their media class. So they asked me to do a presentation and demo some software to the students.
So I used Keynote 3 (which to the uninitiated is Apple’s version of Microsoft PowerPoint which makes PowerPoint look 10 years old in comparisson. It’s like just over 20 years ago all over again when mac users had a lovely graphical interface and PC users were still on MS-DOS).
By the end of my presentation and demoing iMovie and GarageBand the kids were psyched about using the iBooks. Apparently the day after they had a computer room booked and they all asked their teacher if they could just stay in their classroom because they really wanted to use the iBooks instead of their PCs.
And so the switching begins…
Actually, when I was doing a demo on GarageBand I told them about how earlier that week I’d had a couple of students play about on it and they recorded their voices. I then quickly used a “vocal transformer” to make the girl sound like a guy, and the guy sound like a girl. So when I was doing the demo I recorded about 5 seconds of my voice and was just about to show how to add music in the background and one of the teachers decided to ask me “Can you make it so that you sound like a girl…?”
“….Okay, erm, yeah, sure” came my response. And two clicks later I scarily sounded like a girl. I almost cried like one too as a result.
But anyways, the switching of the high school is starting to take place. I even edited a video for the english department in a day using iMovie, scored it in GarageBand and put it on DVD with iDVD and now the english department are psyched.
Not only that, but I mentioned about Photoshop for the art department and now they’ve decided to go with that. They’re now able to afford enough licences to put the whole Adobe Creative Suite 2 onto all their iBooks and eMacs and have asked me to demo Photoshop to them once it’s arrived. They were going to get them on PCs but seeing as they have iBooks and since Photoshop runs better on a Mac (Don’t argue with me on this one - because it does! For starters, Apple and Adobe work together to make sure it runs as good as it can on a Mac and I have it on both my Mac and PC and it runs far better on my mac. Even though it’s not a Universal Binary yet (which is saying something).
Anyhoo, the next episode of The Choad Show should be out Monday night (as scheduled). Dave and I haven’t actually recorded it yet, so it won’t be out until late Monday night, but it shall be out none-the-less ready for you to download either on Monday (if you’re up late enough) or Tuesday (if you’re not). Although it should be out on time (seeing as we agreed to record on Saturday/Sunday with a Monday release) we’re sorry for the late delays but as promised, we do have the first of many regular sketches (which we recorded today in the short time we had available).
Although, that’s not strictly true. Because we did have a little bit more time but we got addicted to Call of Duty 2. We also discovered a new bottle of Shloer was available which looks like a champaign bottle;
It even has a cork inside - it’s really good! We both loved it and Dave even commented on how it tasted a lot like alcohol. I had to actually prove to him that it was non-alcoholic! (And yes, that is KITT from Knight Rider in the background).
Anyway, as we played Call of Duty 2 Dave started to get scared. So much so, that he even began to clutch tightly onto the new Shloer bottle that we have begun to love in an attempt to feel safe. It didn’t work though because he just kept getting shot over and over and over again.
Click on the images below to get an idea of what I mean;
Anyhoo, I’ve got a busy day tomorrow so I’m going to have to get some sleep. I’ve got to be at the gym in just under 6 hours, record a podcast for you guys later in the evening and I’ve got a whole school to switch to using Apple products during the day.
And as always, please send us a message if there’s anything you’d like us to talk about on this weeks show
