The countdown is almost over! Those of you who’ve listened to Episode 7 will know that Dave and I are going to London to see Superman Returns at the IMAX in 3D! Yeah baby!
Okay, so this is the plan. Tonight after work (which is my last day at work before a 6 week holiday - woohoo for staff getting school holidays when working at a school - yay) I shall start packing for London (which basically means that I’m packing food and feeding Dave). Dave on the other hand is going to the cinema with his new girlfriend Stacey to see Pirates of the Caribbean, after which he’s getting an early night.
We’re both leaving at 7:15am to get the National Express coach at 8:15am and then arriving in London at 11:30am where we will get the tube to Waterloo and wait for Superman Returns which goes on at 2pm. After the 3 hour film we’re going to go hunting for a comic book store during our 6 hour wait for our return coach which will bring us back home for about 3:30am Sunday morning. So erm, phew, long day.
Gonna be so worth it though. And don’t worry, this won’t impact on The Choad Show - we will still have one for you on schedule for Monday.
This week at work it’s been absolutely hectic. I work at a school that has a specialism in Engineering - so every year we hold “Engineering Week” where kids from each year do some sort of activity and this year I was working with the media department to get kids to do TV News Shows and Radio News Shows (in the form of a podcast). Dave was a little worried about this - especially when I told him a while ago that I’d “demo’d some stuff to them”. He panicked and thought that I’d showed them The Choad Show. Well considering that Dave is too embarassed to play the show to his girlfriend, and that if I were to start dating then that girl wouldn’t be told about the show either. To be honest, the only reason why Stacey knows is because I accidentally mentioned something to Dave about it within earshot of her.
Okay, by “in earshot” I mean she was standing right next to him. It was an accident!
Anyhoo, this week is the last week and I’ve finally had time to get stuff done. The only night I’ve had free was the one I used for Dave and I to record Episode 7; I’ve not even been online on msn for about a week and a half!
But yesterday after the whole Engineering thing was over with, some kids went to Alton Towers. Now some of you may have read in the news about this, but basically what happened was that the Runaway Mine Train ride (which is an awesome ride) finally ran away yesterday. It split in the middle and the back end rolled backwards and crashed, injuring 29 people. 3 of those people were students from our school. Two of them had minor injuries but one of them was taken to hospital. I don’t know any more information about it (and if I did I would probably get fired for saying anything anyway, so…)
My friend Ric (aka Warfish) pointed out the description for the ride on the Alton Towers website;
“Rattle along the rickety rails and mine shafts, past trees and rivers, on a speeding locomotive that’s out of control - and getting faster every second.”
And he has a good point that they do warn you beforehand.
By the way; I’ve decided that I should follow up news stories more often. The main reason is because the other day my neighbour said that there was going to be a storm yesterday. What I didn’t find out was that the storm happened in the night and that that didn’t mean that it was going to be cold. So I went to work in a jumper. Now I could have taken it off, but I didn’t have a t-shirt on underneath, and suffice to say I very nearly evolved into a puddle.
I have never worked so hard in my life and never in so much heat with completely the wrong type of clothing. I just wanted someone to kill me immediately. Dave very nearly did when I told him how early we had to leave and how late we’d be back from London. He told me that if he was too tired to kill me, that when he finally was I am to remind him to kill me. Works for me I guess. Unfortunately, he now has a minion army!!!
I’m not joking either! All this time I’ve been on about minions and minion armies and how everyone should have minions and how the world would be better and safer with a legion of followers in the form of minions. And the muppet gets his first minion before I do! He’s using his brother’s girlfriend’s kid. He’s already began the training and oh boy does that kid pack a punch into your genitalia.
Seriously - no man who stands before Dave’s minion could ever claim that they would not be tempted with the thought of a sex change, just so that there weren’t two round hairy co-ordinates for him to aim for.
So basically, Dave’s got a girlfriend, the beginnings of a minion army, and all I’ve got is a new nickname; CoolBox. Stacey came up with it. Dave and I were confused but apparently I’m “full of cool” and that I should be “put into a box to contain the coolness”. I think that was a compliment but when I asked the her next time I saw her it turns out that she was so drunk when she made it up that she can’t remember it. She swears down the Dave and I are lying. So now I don’t know if it was a compliment or just sarcasm.
But there was a party that day and someone left and said “Nice to meet you CoolBox” and so now it’s stuck. Dave likes it aswell and was overjoyed that in the 6 years he’s known me that someone’s finally come up with a nickname for me.
“CoolBox”.
Hmm.
What do you think?
I think I need more minions…
