Older visitors to this site will remember a time back when I created a comic strip. Just the one, that was all. This is it below;

Comic #001 - The Story So Far

But that one took far too long to make in Photoshop – especially when it came to colouring it in. The process was basically to hand-sketch the comic, scan it in, then draw a seperate layer for each item as I drew over them. This meant that not only was it easy to move seperate parts around but it kinda made it trickier to colour in because you couldn’t use a fill tool (so it was back to old school colouring in effectively).

Then I decided to learn to use Adobe Illustrator to not only speed up the production time, but increase the quality. I even offered proof:

And then I stopped and created The Choad Show instead. Whilst Dave and I were sat listening to the latest show after recording it, I sat back and said to him something along the lines of “It’s weird how this site started out as just text. And then we decided that we’d do all sorts of comic strips and stuff, and instead ended up doing podcasts…”

So I’ve gone back to Adobe Illustrator, finally (in one night) figured out how to use it and I’ve created this as an example to prove that it shouldn’t be too long until you can expect to see a second comic here. :P I’m also using “Comic Life” now to do all the frames and speech bubbles etc which makes it so incredibly handy and fast to do! Seriously, doing those things in photoshop REALLY put me off! But not anymore :D
