The Dumbass Responsible For All This
Al

Location: London, UK

A half-English, half-Scottish Northerner whose vocabulary often leads to him being mistaken for being American, Al is the original creator of The Choad, The Choad Show and is the co-founder of its parent company; Dizzy Tissue Studios.

Beyond the boundaries of the online realm, he spends a lot of time asleep/unconscious where he often experiences really weird dreams. He also has a younger brother called Sam* who finds himself leaping from life to life, striving to put right what once went wrong. His only guide on this journey is Al, who appears to him in the form of a hologram that only Sam can see and hear. And each time they hope that Sam’s next leap will be the leap home…

Born in Yorkshire as the son of a preacher man, Al moved to Cheshire at the age of 4 where he lived out his childhood and adolescent life. As he grew older he found himself at war with the bears outside, who would often lie in wait for the opportunity to bring about his demise (albeit unsuccessfully).

He went to university in Scarborough where he studied to be a Primary School Teacher. He later returned to Cheshire to experience both employment and unemployment in its many wondrous forms.

It was during this time that he started writing The Chronicles of a Dumbass [a blog hosted on Blogger] detailing his many failures and moments of clumsiness (such as being fired on the 5th day of working at a factory after he fell asleep head-first on a conveyor belt). Originally written as a personal record of such events, people found it entertaining and it later found its home at TheChoad.com.

In 2007 – after four years of working in a High School – Al made the decision that it was time to move to London and start a proper career, far away from the bears outside. The Choad ended up taking a back seat and sat on the proverbial digital shelf for the next few years.

By 2011, he decided it was time to start Dizzy Tissue Studios with Trev and bring The Choad back with an all-new team.

When not dabbling in badassary or walking into things, Al tends to geek out a lot over his love of retro stuff (films, music, technology, video games, cartoons, etc) from the 80s and 90s. He’s afraid of clowns, likes to kill zombies and rarely finds himself being hunted by velociraptors.

He also wears a calculator watch because calculator watches are cool.

*For the Quantum Leap fans out there: This is actually true. He does indeed have a younger brother called Sam.
